The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in the World Series.

The victory marked the eighth consecutive game for Milwaukee, a number that ties the all-time postseason record. The team now stands one win away from securing its first World Series title in franchise history.

The decisive moment arrived in the fifth inning. With two outs already recorded, the Brewers produced seven consecutive hits. This sequence resulted in eight runs scored with two outs, a feat that had never occurred in a World Series game before.

Brice Turang initiated the rally with a two-run single. He followed a replay review that overturned a forceout at second base. Garrett Mitchell, Cooper Pratt, and Sal Frelick added runs via singles and doubles to extend the lead to 8-0.

Robert Gasser provided the pitching performance that anchored the win. The rookie left-hander allowed one hit and faced the minimum number of batters through six innings. He became the first starter to face 18 batters through six innings of a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001.

Gasser is also the first left-handed pitcher to accomplish this specific feat since Sandy Koufax in 1965. He allowed only one run in 15 innings during three postseason starts, all of which took place on the road.

Jackson Chourio finished the game with four hits and a stolen base. He became the second-youngest player to record four hits and a steal in a World Series game, trailing only Ty Cobb from 1908. Chourio recorded eight hits across the three games of the series.

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash acknowledged the team's position after the loss. He stated that the Rays must win the next game to keep their championship hopes alive. The team has fallen behind 3-0 in previous postseason series but has never recovered in that specific World Series scenario.

The Brewers have won 103 games this season and swept both their National League Division Series and League Championship Series. A win in Game 4 on Tuesday night would make them the first team to sweep an LCS and a World Series since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.

The Rays led the American League with 98 regular season wins. They swept the New York Yankees in the divisional round and defeated the Cleveland Guardians in six games to reach the final. Their previous World Series appearances in 2008 and 2020 resulted in losses to the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers, respectively.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. Griffin Jax is the designated starter for Tampa Bay. The Brewers had not announced their opposing pitcher as of the time of reporting.

The stadium, which suffered roof damage from Hurricane Milton in 2024, hosted a sellout crowd of 40,388 fans. Many supporters wore white uniforms and gathered behind the visitors' dugout to cheer for Milwaukee.
