Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have released a new cosmetic set that references their shared history on television. The product, called The Delena Soft Pinch Blush Bundle, is now available for purchase on the Rare Beauty website.
The bundle contains two items from the Rare Beauty line. It includes the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in two specific shades named Hope and Virtue, which are described as the stars' personal favorites. The set also features a Soft Pinch Blush Brush.
The name Delena refers to the nickname fans gave the pair during their rise to fame in the late 2000s. The two actresses became friends while working on the set of Barney & Friends before starring in Disney Channel projects such as Wizards of Waverly Place and Camp Rock. Their relationship became public knowledge as they frequently described themselves as best friends during that era.
The marketing campaign for the new product pays direct homage to the 2009 Disney Channel movie Princess Protection Program. In that film, Gomez and Lovato starred as a princess fleeing her country and a local girl helping to hide her identity. The new visual materials mimic the movie poster for that production.
The duo also released a video clip that runs for approximately four minutes. The footage imitates the style of the YouTube videos the two created together in 2008. In the clip, they answer questions and perform their signature red carpet pose. They also lip-sync and dance to the song One and the Same, which they recorded for the Princess Protection Program soundtrack.
Gomez recalled the experience of shooting the music video for that track. She stated, I felt like that was our moment when we felt like Avril Lavigne. We were so into it. Lovato added to the memory by noting they were always into Kelly Clarkson.
Lovato addressed their past distance in a new interview with Elle magazine. She explained that friends go through different chapters in life and are not always in constant communication. She stated that she has always loved and adored Gomez and is glad they can now collaborate and spend time together. The pair last appeared together in public when Gomez attended a concert on Lovato's It's Not That Deep Tour in Orlando in April of this year.
