Zohran Mamdani's Spanish-language video on interacting with federal immigration agents reached more than 7 million views on X by Friday.

The New York City mayor posted the guide to address residents' concerns about encounters with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He stated that ICE cannot enter private spaces such as homes, schools, hospitals, or private workplace areas without a judicial warrant signed by a judge. He also advised viewers to remain silent and noted that these are frightening times for many people.

Republican leaders criticized the post on social media, arguing that the mayor was coaching residents on how to evade lawful deportation. Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas said it should be insulting that a mayor who became a citizen less than a decade ago was coaching illegal aliens in a foreign language. Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina added that anyone here illegally is not a New Yorker.

Sen. Mike Lee of Utah observed that the video did not urge anyone to abide by U.S. laws, noting it was not made for the benefit of all people in the United States. Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio simply labeled the video as treason. Actor Dean Cain called the mayor dangerous, stating that those here legally have no reason to fear ICE.

Tomi Lahren, a Fox News commentator, described the video as foreign-born Democrats instructing illegals on how to evade the law. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, called the statement dangerous incitement filled with disturbing falsehoods, warning that it could put lives in danger.

Mamdani has positioned himself against ICE throughout his campaign and tenure. He previously called for abolishing the agency and said the NYPD would not assist with civil immigration enforcement. As mayor, he signed an executive order strengthening sanctuary policies, directing city agencies to limit cooperation with federal authorities and protect personal information.

The order also established protocols for handling ICE requests for city property or records and expanded know your rights materials for city employees. Mamdani's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
