Pueblo weather turns cooler and wetter this weekend as a cold front crosses the state.

The city reached a high of 80 degrees on Friday, October 23, with morning temperatures in the 50s. Clouds broke to allow sunshine, leading to afternoon warming. This day marked the final stretch of warmth before a sharp temperature drop.

Rain chances increased from 10% to 20% on the south side of Pueblo on Friday. A cold front advanced from the west, bringing more cloud cover. The weather system supported thunderstorms farther east and along the southern portion of Interstate 25. Sunshine appeared around 10 a.m. as morning clouds cleared.

Temperatures fell as the front moved through Friday and into Saturday morning. Saturday high temperatures reached only the 50s. This represents a 30 degree drop from the previous day's peak. Neighboring areas experienced similar shifts. Colorado Springs had a high of 73 degrees and a low of 47. Canon City saw a high of 75 degrees and a low of 49, with 20% to 30% rain chances.

Woodland Park forecast a high of 58 degrees and a low of 39. Monument and the Tri-Lakes area reached 69 degrees, with Saturday highs in the 50s. Walsenburg and Trinidad hit highs of 73 and 74 degrees respectively, with lows of 49. Friday was their warmest day in the following seven days.

Eastern plains areas saw afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Thunderstorms returned by Friday evening after a sunnier start. Mountain forecast highs stayed in the 60s with lows in the 30s. Lingering moisture and flooding remained concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede.

Conditions are expected to become calmer next week. Sunshine and partly cloudy skies will return. Temperatures will gradually warm into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook calls for temperatures in the 50s and 60s with dry weather, though that forecast could change.
