Hilary Rosen has assumed the chair position at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, taking over from outgoing leader Sara Putt. Rosen steps into the role after Putt completes a three-year term, with the former deputy rising to fill the vacancy. The new chair will direct the organization's efforts to support talent in film, games, and television through its awards ceremonies and development initiatives.
Rosen brings extensive internal experience to the post. She has served on the BAFTA Television Committee since 2021 and previously held the chair position for that body. During her time there, she helped design the TV and Craft Awards and managed their judging panels. Outside the academy, she currently leads commissioning for original scripted and unscripted content at UKTV.
The leadership team expands with the appointment of two new deputy chairs. Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller will serve in these roles for a two-year term. They will support Rosen in managing the academy's day-to-day operations and strategic direction.
Several new members have also joined the Board of Trustees following a formal election process. Charu Desodt and Caroline Levy have been named as the new chairs for the Games and Television Committees, respectively. Nahrein Kemp will lead the LIT Committee. Shrina Shah, who currently heads the governance and appointments committee, will also join the board.
Rosen described the appointment as a great privilege. She expressed delight at working alongside the new committee chairs and the full board. She noted that the group shares a collective passion for the screen industries. Rosen said she is confident the new board will continue the impactful work established by previous leaders.
