Samsung plans to release the Galaxy W27 in China on October 29, according to a leak from Ice Universe. The device will serve as the company's final foldable launch for the year.
The leaked image shows a glossy blue back panel with gold accents surrounding a triple-camera array. This styling is consistent with Samsung's annual tradition of creating exclusive, premium variants for the Chinese market. These models are typically rebranded versions of the year's top foldable, often featuring elaborate packaging and distinct hardware finishes.
The Galaxy W27 is based on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, not the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. This choice is notable because the standard Fold 8 features a new form factor that has drawn positive customer response. The Ultra model retains the previous design language, which aligns with the specifications listed for the W27. This approach mirrors the 2024 Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which received a wider release as a precursor to the Z Fold 7.
The launch occurs as wide-format foldables gain market share in China. Competitors such as Xiaomi and Huawei have released similar wide-fold devices, with Huawei holding a long history in the segment. Analysts project that foldable display shipments will rise by 44 percent in 2026 as these wider designs become more common. Samsung has stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is performing well and that the release of the iPhone Duo has increased attention on its foldable lineup.
The company has also updated several Galaxy devices to Android 17. While Samsung has additional foldables scheduled for next year, the W27 is set to be the last new foldable to reach the market in 2026 if the reported October 29 date holds.
