NFC East Stumble: Two 2-4 Rivals Clash for Relevance
Dallas and Philadelphia, both mired in four-game losing streaks, collide Monday night in a division where no team has won a game in two weeks.

A rare moment of divisional mediocrity sets the stage for Monday night’s showdown in Philadelphia, as the Cowboys and Eagles, both sitting at 2-4, seek a lifeline in a race that remains surprisingly wide open. The NFC East is currently leaderless in terms of momentum, with no team securing a victory over the last two weeks. This streak of collective defeat marks the first such occurrence since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, highlighting just how fragile the standings have become for all four franchises.
The Eagles arrive on a four-game losing streak, their worst run since 2020, under head coach Nick Sirianni. Their offensive output has plummeted, managing just 58 points across those four losses. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season due to blood clots, forcing rookie Tanner McKee to step into the starting role. McKee, who spent much of his early career as a backup, had only two days of first-team practice before his first true start against Carolina. He now has a full week to prepare with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, a process he described as effective and collaborative.
Philadelphia’s backfield is in disarray, with star running back Saquon Barkley sidelined by a hamstring injury. His backups, Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby, are also injured, while practice squad signee Carson Steele hurt his shoulder in last week’s loss. Dameon Pierce was the only healthy option, rushing for 35 yards against a Dallas defense that allows 4.7 yards per carry. The Eagles’ next scheduling hurdles include a trip to Washington on Nov. 1 and a final home date against the Giants, a stretch that will define their season’s trajectory.
Dallas carries its own set of issues, ranking 30th in the league on defense under first-year coordinator Christian Parker. Offensively, the team scored a combined 29 points in their last two defeats, including a 23-13 loss to Green Bay last week. This marks the first time since 2019 that Dallas has scored fewer than 20 points in consecutive starts for Dak Prescott. Owner Jerry Jones indicated at the NFL’s annual fall meeting on Wednesday that no further coaching changes are planned. He characterized the recent hiring of Mike Pettine as a strategic and unique move to stabilize the front seven.
Individual performances offer bright spots for the Cowboys. Javonte Williams has seven rushing touchdowns, the second-most in the franchise through six games, trailing only Emmitt Smith’s historic totals from the mid-1990s. CeeDee Lamb holds 48 receptions, the most in team history for the first six weeks, and is approaching 8,000 career receiving yards. For Philadelphia, tight end Dallas Goedert needs one catch to move into third place on the franchise’s career receptions list.
The Cowboys are favored by four points in a matchup where they lead the all-time series 72-58. Their last meeting, on Nov. 23, 2025, ended with a 24-21 Dallas victory. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN, with both teams hoping to avoid another week of divisional futility.
