The search for Anthony Lloyd has moved beyond the streets of southeast London, with detectives now looking in six additional counties.
Lloyd, 38, forced his way out of a health unit in Lewisham shortly after 4pm on Friday. He was last spotted at 4.10pm heading toward Catford. Metropolitan police describe him as white, 5ft 8in tall, with a medium build and short dark hair. Witnesses saw him wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.
His path to the Lewisham facility began with a 2025 conviction for actual bodily harm. The crime involved three emergency services workers in Nottinghamshire. He served a 12-month custodial sentence before transferring to the medical unit in September. Police state that Lloyd poses a risk to both himself and the general public.
Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley leads the investigation. She said officers are conducting various inquiries to locate Lloyd and return him to custody. Pressley urged the public to call 999 immediately if they see him and instructed them not to approach. She also asked anyone with details, no matter how small, to contact police as a matter of urgency.
While officers believe Lloyd could be anywhere in the capital, they have identified specific links to other regions. The search now covers Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. The force has asked members of the public to quote the reference CAD4739/23Oct when reporting sightings.
